Shametu River Lodge has been fully built and is currently in operation. Its construction took place
since the start of January 2015, culminating in the opening of the lodge to tourism in April 2015.
Situated adjacent to the C48/D3403 district road situated on townlands portion No. 1362 in the
local authority area of Divundu, Kavango East Region, Namibia. Shametu River Lodge is
strategically positioned, next to the Okavango River near the Bwabwata National Park
ECC has been contracted by Azalea Investments Five CC (trading as Shametu River Lodge) as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to facilitate the entire ESIA process. Prior to the start of the proposed projects, an environmental clearance certificate is required in terms of the Environmental Management Act, 7 of 2007 and the associated EIA Regulations. A final decision relating to the above-mentioned application will be made by Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT): Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA).
