The proponent Marenica Ventures (Pty) Ltd, proposes the exploration of nuclear fuels on EPL 8728, 8792 and 8795. The proponent proposes to conduct exploration by using methods that may include geochemical surveys, ground and airborne geophysical surveys ( eg HLEM surveys to define paleochannels and airborne radiometric surveys) and RC, RAB and Diamond drilling to provide samples for density determination, mineralogical study, geochemical and disequilibrium analysis.
ECC has been contracted by Marenica Ventures (Pty) Ltd as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EPA) to facilitate the entire ESIA process. Prior to the start of the proposed projects, an environmental clearance certificate is required in terms of the Environmental Management Act, 7 of 2007 and the associated EIA Regulations. A final decision relating to the above-mentioned application will be made by Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT): Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA)
