Farm Omihe No. 127 is situated adjacent to the B1 road next to Okonjima Nature Reserve approximately 50 km from Otjiwarongo. The project is also strategically positioned, near Etosha National Park as well as the Waterberg Plateau National Park. A comprehensive exploration, identification, and research process has unveiled a range of viable farming opportunities. These include small-stock farming, goat meat and cheese production, poultry farming, cattle farming, hunting tourism, game and cattle meat processing, horticulture fruit and vegetable processing, tourism accommodation, eco-tourism, and nature awareness educational programs. The proposed subdivision of land from the farm offers ample potential for implementing these operations in the future, with some already in operation.
ECC has been contracted by Anne Carola Diekmann as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to facilitate the entire ESIA process. Prior to the start of the proposed projects, an environmental clearance certificate is required in terms of the Environmental Management Act, 7 of 2007 and the associated EIA Regulations. A final decision relating to the above-mentioned application will be made by Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT): Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA).
