Environmental Compliance Consultancy (ECC) has been engaged by UNAM to conduct the environmental impact assessment in order to obtain the Environmental Clearance Certificate for the University of Namibia (UNAM) Katima Mulilo campus expansion project for of the new Department for Wildlife Management and Ecotourism facility.
The Department shall offer demand-orientated wildlife-related education on BSc and MSc level for the SADC Region. In order to accommodate approximately 120 students and provide sufficient training facilities, the campus shall be extended. The purpose of the Project is to improve the management of natural resources and the infrastructure of protected areas in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
The proposed project shall be constructed adjacent to the existing campus on the other side of the B8, south of the Zambezi River. The new facilities are likely to have the following:
The final design and required facilities shall be determined through the final design stages and the Environmental Impact Assessment process.
Environmental Compliance Consultancy (ECC) is the appointed Environmental Practitioner for the project. ECC will conduct an environmental assessment in order to complete an Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Management Plan (EMP) in accordance with the Environmental Management Act, 2007.
