Principal Environmentalist and Hydrogeologist

Luke is ECC’s Principle Hydrogeologist and a Professional Registered Scientist with SACNASP, a member of the Groundwater Division of the Geological Society of South Africa and a member of the IAH. His professional experience has been gained through a variety of consulting projects with multiple roles including field technician, project team member, key expert and project manager.

Luke’s technical proficiencies include undertaking desktop study-groundwater assessments, hydrocensus, groundwater monitoring (hydrochemical and hydrophysical), borehole siting – geological mapping (GIS & field based), geophysical surveying (ERT&MAG), borehole design, drilling supervision, lithological logging, core logging, test pumping supervision and analysis, borehole rehabilitation, wellfield design, wellfield management, Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) feasibility, groundwater protection zones, data processing, analysis and interpretation (climate, hydrology, geological, hydrochemical, water level, socioeconomic, legislative), conceptual model development, input to numerical models & scenarios, surface water groundwater interactions, water balance and associated components (recharge estimates, storage, discharge), report writing and technical review.

As a senior team member, Luke is actively involved in business development (quotes, RFI’s, tenders, marketing, conferences), mentoring and training, R&D, developing project tenders, contract management, client liaison, budget development and management, operations management, resource planning, stake holder engagement and human resources.
