The IGF serves as a unique global venue for dialogue between its 67 member country governments, mining companies, industry associations and civil society.
ECC’s Role in the project
ECC was engaged by the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) to conduct the Namibian assessment on the laws and policies relating to six thematic areas based on a compendium of best practices for governments to best deal with the full range of issues related to mining.
The Mining Policy Framework is endorsed by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development, and forms the assessment basis for the Gap Analysis for the Namibian Government against this framework.
